Letting Go of the Chase: Three Lessons Learned in Three Years of Business

In the early stages of my business, I admit I fell into the trap of obsessing over the number of likes and views on my social media platforms. It seemed like the ultimate measure of success. However, I soon discovered that engagement and visibility alone do not guarantee sustainable growth or genuine connections with my audience.

Rather than chasing superficial metrics, I shifted my focus toward creating meaningful content that resonates with my audience. By prioritizing value and genuine connections, I fostered a loyal community that appreciates the quality of what I offer. This shift not only enriched the interactions with my audience but also allowed me to build a stronger brand presence.


Followers:

At the beginning of my journey, I fell into the misconception that the more followers I had, the more successful my business would be. However, I quickly realized that a high follower count doesn't always equate to genuine interest or conversions. It's not about quantity but rather the quality of the audience.

Instead of fixating on increasing my follower count, I shifted my strategy toward attracting the right audience. I sought individuals who resonate with my values, genuinely connect with my content, and are more likely to engage or convert. By focusing on building a community of like-minded individuals, I witnessed a deeper level of engagement and a greater impact on my business.


Everyone's Approval:

In the early stages of my business, I found myself seeking validation and approval from others. I was worried about what people would think of my decisions and strategies. However, I learned that relying solely on external validation hinders personal and professional growth.

I made a conscious decision to trust my instincts, rely on my expertise, and make choices aligned with my vision and values. Embracing the fact that not everyone will approve of my decisions empowered me to stay true to myself and foster authenticity in my business. It also allowed me to attract an audience that appreciates my unique approach and offerings.


In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, it's crucial to reevaluate our priorities and let go of pursuits that may distract us from our true goals. By shifting my focus away from the number game, including likes, views, and followers, and freeing myself from the need for constant approval, I've found a greater sense of fulfillment and success in my business. Remember, success should be defined by our own terms and values, not by external metrics.
